Swedish Proverb 1.1

My grandpa immigrated to the U.S. when he was 19 years old from Sweden.  Having spent most of my first five years with my grandparents and spending as much time as I could after that my family was pretty invested in our heritage.  Our Christmas Eve meal was a traditional, Swedish one. I grew up on Richard Scary books in Swedish.  There were trips to Sweden to visit family members and we had Scandinavian exchange students, etc.

This proverb is one that is in my quote book.  It says so many positive things to me.  I am motivated by fear most of the time.  I try not to have a spirit of timidity but to be honest I sometimes suck at this.  I have been really working on hoping more.  My quote book is filled with quotes on hope.  (My current favorite: “Rebellions were built on hope.”)  Eat less, chew, more reminds me to be more mindful of my eating.  Whine less, breathe more…to focus on the positive and relax more.  Hate less, love more…basic reminder in a world filled more and more with hatred around us.  And all good things will be yours…I believe this means contentment and gratitude for the small things in life.  I do not believe in a prosperity faith.  It is definitely not been my personal experience.  I don’t need a lot of material things to make me happy.  Al and I have it pretty good. Maybe sharing our lives with someone else will happen but we’re okay for now.

Look for more Swedish Proverbs in the future…they will be in English I promise.  I might even throw in a few Ollie and Sven jokes now and again.

  1. Aw, this was an extremely nice post. Taking the time
and actual effort to produce a great article… but
what can I say… I put things off a whole lot and never seem to get nearly anything done.
